Lake Tomahawk Park Black Mountain


If you're visiting the Asheville, NC area, you should spend some time in the lakeside park known as Lake Tomahawk. This beautiful park offers lakeside trails and fishing piers, as well as tennis courts and a pool. The views are breathtaking and the views are sure to leave you speechless. There are many activities to enjoy at the park, too, including picnic areas and a playground for the kids. In the heart of Black Mountain is the Town Square, which was named a place of excellence in 2009. The Town Hardware and General Store has been around since the 1920s, and offers everything from clothing to camping supplies. You can also sit outside and enjoy the view, as there are plenty of places to sit and relax. There's a nice splash fountain and clean ablutions. You can find local cuisine and enjoy ice cream from local ice cream shops.


For hiking enthusiasts, the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains are a must-see. This mountain community is also home to a number of hiking trails and greenways. You'll also find trout fishing opportunities. And, if you love art, Black Mountain also has many galleries to explore. The Flood Gallery Fine Art Center and the Seven Sisters Gallery are two noteworthy examples. And while you're there, make sure you take the time to visit Lake Tomahawk Park.


If you're interested in history, you can visit Chimney Rock, which was made famous by the Last of the Mohicans movie. The epic fight scene was filmed here. Just 40 minutes from Asheville, you can hike the Outcroppings Trail and see Grotto, Opera Box, and Pulpit Rock. If you're interested in film, you might also want to stop at Lake Lure, a famous movie location. It was the location of the movie's filming and features the 1927 Lake Lure Inn & Spa.


If you're looking for a less busy waterfall, head to Tom's Creek. This half-mile trail will take you through a forest before ending with a 60-foot waterfall. You'll also find mica embedded in the rocks, a remnant from the past when the area was a mine for the mineral. There is a beautiful view of the waterfall at the end of the trail.


Asheville's downtown district is full of galleries, coffee houses, and unique restaurants. The architecture is beautiful and the landscaping is kept looking great. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes with unique menus. There's a famous breakfast spot, Biscuit Head, and the sunny Point Cafe. There are also award-winning Indian restaurants such as Chai Pani, which serves authentic street food. You can also try French Broad for some liquid chocolate truffles. Visitors can also take a disc golf course at Owen High School, which is closed during school hours. It's open to the public and is only two miles away from Veterans Park and Graybeard Mountain.
